The Sixth Khan Holds Grand Ceremony in Honor of Ancestors
After Seyit killed the giant of unusual strength called Karadole and saved the oppressed the people from the talons of cruel ruffian, the young hero and Princess Kirlgikei fell in love with each other at first sight. However, Sooraimart Khan, the father of the princess, disagreed with the young hero on whether he could marry the princess as the hero proposed marriage to her in terms of the old khan’s original promise. Sooraimart Khan put forward a number of harsh conditions for the would-be marriage on purpose. Actually, he was meant to break the promise of marriage. He demanded that the young hero should obtain the precious stones hidden in the green tomb and capture alive the roc on the islands of the Black Sea as the betrothal presents. Hundreds of fishes should be caught and then exquisitely cooked for a sumptuous feast at the wedding ceremony. The old khan tried to stump the young hero with the difficulty. However, Seyit agreed to all the requirements of the tough khan without hesitation. As the young hero stepped out of the palace, the good-natured princess stopped him and told him that all these are the traps set by his father. “You should be aware of that. You don’t have to risk your life,” she said. But Seyit was determined to set off on his trip no matter how dangerous it might be. The words of the young hero moved the princess who resolved to go together with her sweetheart.
Legend of Manas
The young lovers came to the vast sea for the purpose of their pure love. They killed a batch of guards deployed by Karadole on the islands, saving the roc with a pair of golden wings and the phoenix with colorful feather. With the help of the magical birds, they defeated the seven demons who guarded the green tomb and took out a large number of precious stones and other treasures inside it. Afterwards, they returned back smoothly.
The young hero presented the precious stones, roc and phoenix to Sooraimart Khan. As a result, there did not exist even a minor offence which provided a peg to hang the greedy khan’s attack on. Except the precious stones, all the other treasures were distributed to the poor people. The magical birds were reluctant to stay at the greedy khan’s palace and flew away later on. Before departing from the young hero, they left a holy feather to him. According to them, they would fly back to the hero whenever the hero encountered the difficulty and shouted the name of them. Afterwards, young Kyrgyz girls were used to decorating their headgears with a feather. And this has become a inherent custom passed on from generation to generation.
All the people held a grand wedding ceremony for the couple. A cornucopia of delicate dishes cooked with hundreds of kinds of fishes caught from the deep sea were served up at the wedding. The bridegroom kept his promise successfully.
However, the vile father of the bride colluded with the wife and youngest son of Karadole, seven offsprings of Joerandole and a enchantress with seven heads, plotting to kill the young hero on his way back. With the help of Kirlgikei, Seyit pitted his wits and strength against the cruelty of the vile demons. The roc and phoenix also flew back to assist the bridegroom. They gave the demons pecks incessantly, blinding them in the eyes. Finally, the seven giants and the enchantress with seven heads were killed by Seyit.
Seyit married his wife at the age of eighteen. After he returned, his father abdicated voluntarily. After he became the new khan, he led his grand army to repulse a series of attacks launched by enemies. In spite of the dissuasion of his family members, Seyit led his grand army to take revenge on Qalmaq people at the age of twenty-two. Unfortunately, the obstinate khan lost his life because of accidentally discharging his gun during the period of expedition.

Seyit, also passed away. They were named Asilbaqa and Bekbaqa. Raised and educated by their grandfather, the twin brothers had grown up into the decent men. When they were twelve years old, they had shown the unusual wits and strength. As a result, their grandfather abdicated once again so as to let the twin brothers rule the khanate in his stead. The twin brothers began to share the heavy load of grappling with the affairs of national defense and administration. They were united as one and co-ruled their country. During their reign, the national power was in its heyday.
Asilbaqa went on his expedition when he was fifteen years old. He killed a total of five thugs when they tried to break into the mausoleum of Manas. In addition, he pit his wits and strength against Kyzlkyz, a vicious enchantress dressed in red. Finally, he subdued her and helped her turn into a fairy maiden. Unfortunately, he was accidentally injured by one of his subordinates and died finally at the age of twenty-five.
The tragic death of his only son and the eldest grandson dealt a heavy blow to Kenenim. Tightly holding the corpse of his grandson, Kenenim rushed into the wilderness covered with snow. After that, no one saw the 130-year-old hero or knew the whereabouts of him. It became a mystery which could not be disclosed for ever.
Bekbaqa continued ruling the whole country by himself, constraining the great sadness caused by the loss of family members. He felt that it was hard for his family to start an undertaking and then keep it going. Up to then, six khans had ruled the country successively. Some of them sacrificed their lives for the country while Kenenim was missing. In addition, a number of good-natured queens, sages and warriors also made a lot of sacrifices to make sure the country would flourish for ever. In his opinion, it was necessary to hold a commemorative ceremony in honor of the great accomplishments achieved by his ancestors.
